How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Education Interpreter delivers hands-on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy programs (dependent on location) to visitors and visitor groups of TRCA/partner sites and facilities, as well potentially at client sites. The Education Interpreter plays an active role in customer experience ensuring all visitors have a positive experience.
Major Responsibilities:
- Guides and leads visitors and visitor groups to TRCA’s sites and facilities on established programs focused on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy (dependent on location)
- Learns program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences
- Ensures program equipment/supplies including artifacts are well maintained, clean and stored appropriately
- Provides support in program development and administrative tasks as required
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Ability to deliver programs/information to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situations
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines
- Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays
