Levitt-Safety is excited to announce an opportunity for a Fire & Life Supervisor, who will oversee the Service Shop, Fall Arrest, SCBA, and field work. This role based out of Sudbury will focus on driving the growth of Northern Ontario's Fire & Life Service offerings while providing leadership in a hands-on supervisory capacity.

Main Responsibilities:
As a working Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead by example in health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines, legislation, and company policies. Serve as a key safety resource for service operations.
  • Mentor and coach Fire Life Service and Shop Technicians to enhance skills and drive high performance.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections and audits, ensuring work meets manufacturer and customer standards. Communicate and enforce these standards across the team.
  • Maintain up-to-date technician certifications and site-specific training for various customers.
  • Manage rentals and support future fire life safety service work (excluding vehicle fire suppression).
  • Oversee tool and parts inventory with service coordinators to ensure efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the VFSS Team Lead to manage the service fleet, including scheduling maintenance and addressing issues.
  • Assist Service Coordinators with customer quotes and ensure the accuracy of all service documentation.
  • Lead weekly/monthly toolbox safety meetings, maintain records, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Effectively schedule and complete service calls within the designated timeframe.
  • Foster team engagement, resolve conflicts, and maintain positive employee morale.
  • Support the Branch Manager in recruiting and hiring new technicians.
  • Train, coach, and counsel employees to achieve job results while upholding professionalism.
  • Ensure the proper care and safe use of company equipment, including vehicles, testers, and tools.
  • Represent Levitt-Safety as a market leader by maintaining open communication with customers and the team.
  • Lead hazard assessments, incident investigations, and enforce safety compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Role Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience with Levitt-Safety or equivalent industry experience with fall arrest, SCBAs, training and/or shop services.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills related to fire life safety systems and equipment.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop technicians while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  • In-depth understanding of workplace safety regulations, hazard assessments, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple service calls, and ensure deadlines are met all while maintaining excellent rapport with internal and external customers.
  • Tech savvy and comfortable with service management software & reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with customers and team members.
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments, including confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures.
  • Must pass pre-employment checks which include but not limited to a clean driving record, background check and a drug and alcohol test.
