A DAY AS A INCLUSION SPECLIALIST
The successful candidate will oversee, mentor, and support a team of companions. They will participate in all camp activities, including meetings with parents/guardians, pre-camp preparations, and administrative tasks. They will build and maintain positive relationships with the children, their parents/guardians, and the camp team, and ensure that each participant has a positive camp experience at the YMCA.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating in the recruitment and selection of companions and matching them with children with diverse needs and abilities;
- Meeting with parents/guardians prior to the start of camp to discuss the child’s needs and establish an inclusion plan, if needed;
- Assisting your supervisor in preparing and facilitating training and meetings for camp and companions;
- Acting as the resource person for companions and liaising with camp staff;
- Ensuring the management, development and continuous improvement of the team of companions;
- Ensuring the implementation of effective and high-quality inclusion techniques and programs in accordance with YMCA standards;
- Ensuring that camp facilities are always clean and safe;
- Communicating regularly with parents/guardians and liaising with staff members and the community.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Be at least 20 years old. Have at least three years of experience working in a camp or a similar field.
- Have experience working with children or youth with different needs.
- Have experience in supervising and supporting staff.
- Hold or be in the process of obtaining a college or university degree in child studies, psychology, special education, therapeutic recreation or education.
- Have a very good command of spoken and written French and English.
- Be able to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive).

FOR YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, THE YMCA DAY CAMPS OFFER:
- A pleasant work environment at YMCA Saint-Roch.
- An hourly wage of $ 20.00.
- Fees for first aid, CPR and rescue training (if you’re not already certified), as training is a prerequisite for the position. Please note, however, that training time is unpaid.
- Variable working hours: Monday to Friday, mornings and late afternoons – 25 to 40 hours a week as needed.
- Meetings and training to guide and support you: Preparation meeting from February to May (40 hr.), Training from March to April (80 hr.) and Field team trainings during evenings and weekends during June.
Duration of employment: From March to August 22, 2025* * With a few hours of work on administration and closing out files expected the following week Some camps may end earlier.
