Based in Montreal and reporting to the Vice President of Construction, the Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounting of construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations (CCQ, CNESST, site taxes, etc.).

  • Manage the accounting of construction projects, including cost tracking and payment management.
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Verify the compliance of documents from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare payments to suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to approvals and contractual requirements.
  • Submit payment files to the President for final review and approval.
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the submission of required documents before payment (CCQ and CNESST compliance letters, waivers, etc.).
  • Conduct analysis and verification of subcontractors and suppliers before awarding contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with CNESST requirements and submit necessary declarations.
  • Manage contractual holdbacks, bonds, and insurance.
  • Prepare financial reports and closely monitor construction budgets.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage project-related tax compliance (QST, GST).
  • Collaborate with auditors during financial audits.
  • Contribute to the improvement of financial and administrative processes related to construction.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation (an asset)
  • Significant experience in construction accounting (mandatory)
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations (CCQ, CNESST, applicable taxes)
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities effectively
  • Ability to work in a team and interact with various stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, autonomy, and strong analytical skills
