The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horseracing, and cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
The I+IT division of the AGCO has an exciting opportunity within the Business Optimization and Insights (BOI) team for a Business Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Product Planning, you will conduct business analysis, process optimization, develop requirement definitions, and facilitate discussion of solution options for AGCO’s Digital Products supported by BOI. You will work closely with business and project leader(s), external vendors, business users, I&IT and other BOI team members in the development and implementation of business process, system changes and improvements.
In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Analyze and document business requirements for process optimization initiatives and changes related to AGCO’s digital enterprise solutions. These solutions include AGCO’s core regulatory system, Contact Center solution (Salesforce integrated with Amazon Web Services), ERP for Financial and Procurement functions (Oracle Fusion), and in-house solutions built on platforms like SharePoint, Power Automate, and .NET.
- Elicit business requirements through various methods, including interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and task/workflow analysis.
- Analyze and evaluate information from multiple sources, resolve conflicts, and translate high-level data into detailed insights to identify alternative solutions.
- Model and document current and future state business processes with sufficient detail to guide analysis and support implementation, using standard modeling notation.
- Deliver clear and organized presentations, including sensitive or complex information, with tact and professionalism.
- Lead or support release planning activities across various product roadmaps.
- Identify and propose solutions for discrepancies between business requirements/processes and software capabilities.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish technical vision, balancing trade-offs between usability, business needs, and actual requirements.
- Support the review, prioritization, and sizing of change requests for AGCO’s digital products and assist in product configuration.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Economics, or Engineering, with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience; Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation is an asset.
- Expert knowledge of standard BABOK methodologies and a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Exceptional analytical skills with experience in reengineering business processes.
- Proven experience in coordinating multiple product releases using tools such as MS Project, Jira, and DevOps.
- Functional knowledge of SaaS solutions like Salesforce (Contact Center module integrated with Amazon Web Services) and Oracle Fusion (Finance, Procurement, and HRIS modules).
- Proficiency in identifying cause-and-effect relationships in business processes.
- Experience with Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and associated tools.
- Expert-level proficiency in Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Practical knowledge of Agile methodologies and MS Power Platform (Power BI, PowerApps, and Power Automate) is an asset.
