Your main responsibilities

 

  • Act as Project Manager and Senior/Lead Structural Engineer on several building projects.
  • Expertise to include:
    • Structural analysis and design of all building members in accordance with the applicable Building Codes and Standards.
    • Analysis and design of structural elements of a variety of materials including concrete, steel, masonry, light-gage metal, wood, and pre-cast.
    • Preparation of accurate structural drawings and specifications for permit and construction.
    • Experience in the structural design and construction of multi-storey residential, institutional, and commercial buildings including green field, addition, renovation, and retrofit projects.
    • Lateral load analysis and design including seismic and wind forces.
  • Be a technical reference in their discipline and resolve engineering issues of a more complex nature
  • Validate the accuracy of structural plans and other engineering deliverables on projects under their responsibility.
  • Coordinate internal resources and liaise with other disciplines to ensure timely delivery and production according to established deadlines and priorities.
  • Meet with clients, prepare proposals, letters of intent, and establish budgets and schedules.
  • Liaise with clients to check on project progress, ensuring that their opinions and requests are taken into consideration.
  • Work closely with clients, structural team, and other disciplines to resolve all project-related issues, such as, but not limited to, technical, finalization and budgetary requests.
  • Carry out contractual follow-ups and monitor the financial progress of contracts including budgeting follow-up.
  • Evaluate and implement methods, procedures, and tools to improve service quality, optimize processes and increase productivity.
  • Perform staff evaluations, review compensations, and perform mid-year check-ins.
  • Lead the development of the structural department in collaboration with the Vice-President: Structures and local office Managing Director in both technical and business development aspects.
    • Generate new project work and clients.
    • Participate in the technical development of the structural team.
    • Responsible for workforce management.

 

Your profile

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Structural engineering.
  • Member of Engineers Nova Scotia or Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of New Brunswick
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years' experience in the structural design and analysis of buildings.
  • Minimum five (5) years in the Leading and Managing of building projects.
  • Have worked on large-scale building projects in both the public and private sectors
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.  Fluency in spoken and written French will be considered as an asset.
  • Mastery of construction codes and standards applicable to building structures
  • Structural design software (CSI Etabs, SAP2000, SAFE, ADA or equivalent)
