About the Role:
The Construction Innovation and Projects Manager, with the support and under the direction of the Head of Design & Construction (EMEA), will develop, test and when ready rollout the construction related elements of Subways continuous growth & innovation agenda. They will be a key part of a wider cross functional project team tasked with developing Subways new and better way of working. As required, the role will also support our existing construction managers, across Europe, in ensuring New Restaurant Openings (NRO) and Remodel projects are built, refurbished, and well maintained in compliance with Subway's brand requirements and/or a country regulatory standard. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead projects relating to Subways annual strategic goals and/or the design & construction teams functional needs. For example, rollout of digital kiosks, new store design trials, construction guides, etc.
- Work side-by-side with operations to ensure that what we build or place into restaurants can be delivered flawlessly and is embraced by our franchisees and customers. Create best practice guidelines as required to support understanding of delivered items from installation guides to how to manuals.
- Support, monitor & guide our Franchisees - whether independent operators or multi-site corporate partners - in the delivery of their NRO, remodel and other to be defined projects. Ensure all projects are delivered within agreed timescales and to agreed brand standards. Continuously review and develop better ways of working to lower costs, simplify processes, improve timelines and end results wherever possible.
- Working with Operations develop new tools and solutions to support franchise partners care for & maintain their restaurants structures & equipment in good working order as well as co-ordinate guidance / group solutions on meeting regulatory requirements, e.g. electrical safety.
- Support, guide &/or oversee any complex building or maintenance works needed to be undertaken by Franchisees. The candidate will also support our leasing team, and on occasion manage dilapidations works as required.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction; Property; Engineering or Building Services
- + 5 years proven track record in delivering client-side fast track & high volume 'fit out' construction projects, ideally within F&B hospitality and/or retail.
- Previous experience working with franchisees as well as exposure to previous innovation and new ways of working projects, Repairs & Maintenance and/or lease dilapidations an advantage.
- Professional qualification in property / construction an advantage but not essential
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, building business cases and articulating them for leadership and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated team player that brings excitement and enthusiasm to work each day and has strong cross functional experience.
- Successful track record leading complex, multi-functional digital propositions from initial conception through to launch.
- Balances strategic acumen whilst being willing to roll-up sleeves to support the work.
- A growth mindset: track record of leveraging learnings, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit, always imagining what’s possible.
- QSR/Restaurant/Retail experience a plus, but not required.
