How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Assistant Archaeologist participates in archaeological field assessments and collections management activities relating to artifact and field documentation processing and storage.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conducts Stage 2 through Stage 4 archaeological fieldwork under the direction of the field supervisor and in compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists (MTCS 2011).
- Assists with and performs field observations, data recording, data management and artifact collection
- Assists with analyse and laboratory tasks
- Supports community education and outreach programs
- Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in Archaeology or a related field
- Valid Class G2 Driver’s License
Experience
- 0 to 6 months related field experience
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
