How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Clerk, Accounting Services provides support to the finance business unit by posting and processing financial transactions while ensuring accurate coding and data entry. This role main responsibility is day-to-day accounts payable and assists with accounting related transactions.
Major Responsibilities:
- Processes invoices, routes invoices for coding and approval and creates payment requisitions for invoices from purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner
- Assist in the weekly cheque and EFT payment process
- Maintains accurate data entry, filing and recording of information, ensures records in accounting software are up to date, accurate and quality checked
- Assist in outstanding invoices including following up on overdue accounts
- Responds to general inquires related to payables and/or accounting
- Balances accounts, tracing and resolving any discrepancies
- Prepares basic accounting related reports as required
- Ensures vendor validity and HST registration number
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties
- Processes float cash claims for all business units
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Completion of college diploma in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related field
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in a finance or accounting environment
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Understanding of accounting software for the purposes of financial record keeping and data accuracy.
- Understanding and application of basic mathematical functions (e.g., adding, subtracting, measuring, money computation)
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint; advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization
