Live Haul Driver

The Live Haul Driver is responsible for hauling chicken (live product) in Saskatchewan from local growers to the chicken plant located in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. This position includes all responsibilities associated to maintaining all the company owned equipment required to complete the live haul and arriving at the destinations safely and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete safety checks and preparation of truck and trailer units for transport and operation. Accountable for ensuring the truck and trailers are in good operating condition and meet regulatory requirements, including completion of required documentation.
• Drive the scheduled route and have customer service skills.
• Ensure load is secure to have product arrive at destination in good condition.
• Follow all highway transport regulations.
• Maintain accurate records using Electronic Log Devices (ELD) and / or paper log.
• Adjust tarps on trailer as per the weather condition.
• Ensuring a safe work environment for coworkers, customers and producers.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driver’s License, with air brakes required for tractor-trailer units.
• Provide and maintain a clean drivers abstract.
• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
• Good attendance and reliability are essential.
• Must be motivated and require minimum supervision in performing job responsibilities.

Working conditions

• Regular exposure to factors causing moderate discomfort.
• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location.
• A regular need to stop or move/lift light material or equipment.
• Work and environment tend to be repetitious/ unchanging. Some pressure from deadlines,  accuracy or similar demands.
