Position Summary:

The Director of Distribution is reporting to Vice President, Logistics and will be responsible for leading and overseeing all distribution operations across our Sofina Distribution Center [Brampton], Burlington, and Goreway [Brampton] sites. This role will ensure that our distribution activities are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with our overall business goals. The Director will manage a team of distribution professionals, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and service are maintained.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Lead and develop the distribution teams at the Brampton, Burlington, and Goreway sites, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient and effective distribution operations, including warehousing, transportation, and inventory management, across all sites..
  • Cost Management: Monitor and manage distribution costs to ensure operations remain within budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement measures to achieve them without compromising service quality.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of distribution operations. Implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all distribution activities comply with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Promote a safety-first culture across all sites.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Procurement, Production, and Sales, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of distribution activities with broader company goals.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage technology and automation to enhance distribution efficiency and accuracy. Stay current with industry trends and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks within the distribution network and develop approaches to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience managing large-scale distribution operations across multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution processes, warehouse management, transportation, inventory control, and cost management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills. Familiarity with unionized work environments is an asset.
  • Ability to develop and implement initiatives that drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Proficient in the use of distribution management software and other relevant technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel is required 20% of the time across Canada [GTA, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta].
