Accounting Analyst
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Analyst is responsible for working within a variety of accounting fields to efficiently compile accurate information, analyze such data, and help facilitate financial reporting to fulfill internal, external, and regulatory reporting requirements. The incumbent will be detail-oriented and skilled at managing competing priorities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Accurately prepare and analyze capital, inventory and sales related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Manage the internal capital approval process: including working with cross functional departments, checking for accuracy & completeness for Authorization for Expenditure form submissions, tracking status, calculating ROI on projects
- Accurately prepare, analyze, and distribute all required reporting with the utmost precision for accuracy.
- Facility’s lead for product traceability under Recall Plan and Business Continuity.
- Ensure the accuracy of QMG vs. 3rd Party Inventory systems and investigate & reconcile all variances
- Manage & analyze inventory balance sheet reconciliations for packaging / dry goods, WIP & FG
- Inventory variances are investigated by working closely with shipping/planning, necessary adjustments to be completed daily/weekly as required.
- Perform Month End reporting – Meat Variance, Dry Goods, Dry good Turnover reports
- Validate CN/DN and make necessary adjustments in inventory to reflect any customer returns.
- Manage and update product costing within QMG.
- Analyze and Prepare value added journal entries & related reports for distributed Operational reporting.
- Populate / analyze / distribute weekly reports: Credit Note Reports, Sales Analysis, Destroyed product ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Process / investigate destroyed products in QMG
- Manage Quarter & Year end inventory counts, onsite and with travel to 3rd Party warehouses.
- Provides support for absences with the finance team when necessary.
- Collaborates with stakeholders on diverse initiatives ensuring continual analysis and identifying & implementing improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for external audit requirements through the preparation of accurate working papers.
- Other ad hoc projects and analysis as assigned.
Requirements:
• A Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5-10 years of progressive experience – admin, accounting / costing, analysis, with experience in a manufacturing environment
• Successful completion of an Accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced level in MS Excel) and other Windows Applications;
• Working knowledge of financial / operational database ERP systems (experience with AS400 is considered an asset);
• Achieves success when working independently and is a proven team player.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands through excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• An enthusiastic, process-oriented, self-starter who ensures accuracy with the utmost regard to confidentiality.
