ABOUT THE ROLE

The Reproduction Rights Administrator Intern will be a support to the Reproduction Rights team responsible for research, data entry and validation activities that supports the RR operational team in the following areas (where needed):

• Distribution & Collections – manual matching of music usage by radio, television, foreign society, audio and Audio-Visual streaming services to SOCAN RR’s catalog of musical works
• Repertoire – updating and maintaining musical works to ensure proper royalty distributions.
• Membership – Client application administration, inquiry research and data entry

The goals of all activities assigned are to provide excellent client service, maximize royalty distributions and ensure the accuracy of SOCAN RR’s catalogues.

WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintenance of SOCAN RR repertoire, including the addition of new and/or updating of existing
• Research of the musical work and associated shareholders
• Matching music usage reports to SOCAN RR catalog
• Reviewing possible match results and research of musical work to ensure valid match to reported music use.
• Ensure works matched to usage reports are updated to qualify as “payment ready”
• Assist with client onboarding and inquiry activities
• Client application administration
• Data entry (in support of projects and/or day-to-day operations)
• Inquiry research
• Assist with data clean-up activities.
• Other duties and projects, as required.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Computer literacy required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel
• Bilingual in French and English is preferred.
• Music industry knowledge is an asset.
• Detail oriented and thorough
• Excellent research skills
• Self-starter
• Efficient and organized
• Proactive
