                                                                                                                                     Controls Specialist 

This position is an integral part of the SolutionAir team. The successful candidate will have a broad set of technical skills and ready to make an impact on the development of this business unit. Within our Technical Service team, the candidate will help support field installed units, both monitoring, and troubleshooting custom air handling equipment from a controls perspective.  Additionally, the candidate will relay field information back to the design team in a clear and concise manner and be involved in the design of new control platforms.  

 

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating with the development engineering team. 
  • Mapping out programming strategy to meet unit requirements.
  • Applying, testing and providing service for programming strategies adopted by the team. 
  • Creating supporting documentation in Azure.
  • Training Application Engineers.
  • Supporting the development of products.
  • Supporting of HVAC system testing in production, laboratories or job sites.
  • Training others in controls operation, programming and troubleshooting. 

 

 The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • A university/college degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or equivalent experience. 
  • 3+ years in product design and development of large mechanical, commercial, or HVAC equipment is considered an asset.  
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls equipment and Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation and Controls (BAC) networks preferred. 
  • Experience with BMS protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge of programming in Structured text and function blocks.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and Azure DevOps is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, especially breaking down complex requirements. 
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. 
  • The proven ability to take ownership of tasks and from start to delivery, including analysis, estimating, implementation, testing and documentation.
  • The proven ability to work in a team environment with various stakeholders and roles including business analyst, architect, project manager, and quality assurance. 
  • A strong commitment to professional development.
