The Opportunity:

Senior/Staff Accountants are responsible for providing professional support within Postmedia’s accounting group as well as working with other departments. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders within the organization, both providing and receiving timely information for accounting purposes.

What you'll do:

• Reconciliation of complex general ledger accounts;
• Preparation of journal entries;
• Analyze, review, and document various accounting processes;
• Work with business units across Postmedia to reconcile general ledger accounts and streamline processes; and
• Summarize and review of financial information as required.

Who you are:

• Solid understanding of financial reports and account reconciliation;
• Strong analytical and customer service skills;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including advanced skills in Excel;
• The ability to work productively both independently and in a team environment;
• An enthusiastic work ethic, proactive approach, and the ability to embrace and adapt to change;
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills;
• Enrollment or completion of a recognized accounting program and/or equivalent experience is an asset;
• Experience and knowledge of GEAC Smartstream, Oracle NetSuite and/or other accounting software is considered an asset; and
• Accounting designation considered an asset.
