The Opportunity:

Postmedia Network Inc. is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Business/Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is essential to our organization’s financial planning and analysis, providing senior-level insights and recommendations that influence strategic decision-making. The Senior Business/Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting various departments through detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue reconciliations. Expertise with Prophix or similar financial planning and analysis software is strongly preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial performance across multiple departments, identifying significant trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform and oversee advertising revenue reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in reporting and alignment with contractual agreements.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including revenue analysis, expense management, and key performance indicators, to senior management.
  • Collaborate with department heads and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Maintain, enhance, and optimize financial models to improve forecasting accuracy and reporting effectiveness.
  • Guide the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing key insights and recommendations.
  • Utilize Prophix (or similar FP&A software) for financial consolidation, budgeting, and reporting tasks, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
  • Lead ad-hoc financial analysis to support high-impact projects and senior management decision-making.
  • Drive process improvements within financial reporting and analysis workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.

 

Who you are:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA is a strong asset.
  • 4-6 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Proven expertise in revenue reconciliations, ideally within a media or advertising industry setting.
  • Proficiency with Prophix or other financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Netsuite or other ERP tool
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
