Job Summary:
We are looking for team members with excellent people skills, highly organized and have a passion for the outdoors and recreation. Our ideal Snowshoe Guide will be energetic, demonstrate strong group leadership skills, and take the initiative to deliver outstanding guests' experiences. Job tasks may vary throughout the season, and involve assisting in coordinating snowshoe tours, adhering to and explaining safety rules, inventory of snowshoes, and assisting guests.
Essential Job Functions:
- Delivering a safe, fun, and meaningful experience and snowshoe tour to groups of all ability levels and ages in a friendly, fun, enthusiastic and professional manor
- Strict adherence to mountain safety rules for the snowshoe park and enforcing operational procedures while providing exceptional customer service
- Providing accurate information and encouraging feedback to participants
- Assisting Supervisor with coordination of set up for tours, participant sign-in and sign-out, group organization or snowshoe inventory
- Other duties as required
Required Qualifications and Abilities
- Ability to snowshoe and considerable level of outdoor experience required
- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking/hiking, as well as speaking and explaining mountain information to guests and groups
- Group leadership, exercise leadership, group facilitation, teaching or instructional experience background an asset
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions
- An understanding of risk-assessment and management
- Excellent communication skills, and professional demeanor required
- Energetic, enthusiastic, fun-loving and hard-working approach to leading small to medium groups of people
- First Aid training preferred, and adherence to all safety procedures
- Must be willing to commit to guide tours at least 2 evenings/days a week consistently through the Winter 2024-25 season
- Willingness to guide tours on a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Hours of Operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for extended periods of time, lifting, twisting, shoveling and other forms of manual tasks, which may have to be conducted outside in all weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
- $18.40/hour - $21.52/hour
