Job Summary:
As a Duty Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Mountain Operations department, including lift operations, terrain park, snow removal, transport, dispatch, grooming, winter attractions and patrol. The Duty Manager is responsible for leading multiple teams to success and ensuring a safe and exceptional experience for all mountain guests.
Essential Job Functions:
- Direct, oversee, and manage daily mountain operations
- Ensure an exceptional and safe guest experience for all mountain guests and staff
- Complete daily operational tasks in a timely manner
- Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures and implement new processes
- Work with HR and Administrative Support in hiring, training, coaching & scheduling staff
- Train staff including department & job orientation, job specific training, guest service and health & safety training
- Conduct and record daily team meetings
- Help foster a positive working environment for all workers and check in regularly to ensure employee satisfaction
- Facilitate team communication through one-on-one interaction and other established forms of departmental communication
- Conduct incident and accident investigations as a part of the Risk Management team
- Perform site inspections of property, facilities, equipment, and work practices
- Ensure all injury and accident reports are completed and follow up paperwork is completed correctly and at acceptable time
- Conduct investigations as a result of accidents and/or injuries involving company facilities and/or equipment, staff, and guests.
- Ensure timely opening and closing of all outdoor facilities
- Work as a liaison between the Operations Department and other Departments for the smooth execution of all company related operations
- Liaising with emergency agencies
- Liaison with film agencies.
- Manage line control for all parts of the outside operations, including but not limited to trams and lifts
- Oversee overall day to day management of Mountain Operations including: Lift Operations, Terrain Parks, snow removal, transport, dispatch, grooming, winter attractions, patrol.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
Provide direct supervision to the following positions: Lift Operator, Mountain Crew, Transport, Winter Attractions Crew, Snow Shovellors/Line Control, Groomer, Equipment Operator, Summer Attractions Team Lead, Lift Operations Team Lead, Lift Operations Supervisors, and Mountain Crew Supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Abilities
- 2 years of supervision of a team larger than 10 people preferred
- Risk Management and Incident Investigation experience an asset
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Proficient skier or snowboarder required
- Experience in four season resort supervision or management an asset
- Snowmobile experience an asset
- Hands-on leader with a proven track record of superior guest satisfaction
- Competent administrative and computer skills, e.g. POS, MS Office
- High energy and strong work ethic
- Ability to work shift work including early mornings and late afternoon shifts
Working Conditions
Duty Managers perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all kinds of weather conditions. This Duty Manager role is a Full Time position, working an average of 40 hours a week, with rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits
$54,000 up to $57,000 annually
