The Town of Morinville is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Casual/Paid-Per-Call Firefighter. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations & Logistics, you will be responsible for responding to emergencies, including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials control, and fire prevention activities. You will uphold our mission to protect the quality of life for our community members through comprehensive emergency response and the safeguarding of life, property, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to fires, rescue incidents, motor vehicle collisions, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Provide first aid and assisting emergency medical services (AHS) personnel.
- Participate in regular training sessions to maintain and enhance firefighting skills.
- Adhere to fire department policies and procedures.
- Complete necessary reports and documentation related to emergency responses and training activities.
Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age on the date of your application.
- Must reside within the Town of Morinville corporate limits.
- Possess or be willing to obtain NFPA 1001 – Level 1 & 2 Firefighter Certification (or equivalent) within three (3) years.
- Possess or be willing to obtain NFPA 1002 Firefighter Certification (or equivalent) within three (3) years.
- Possess or be willing to obtain Incident Command System 100 Certification within two (2) years.
- Possess or be willing to obtain CPR "Level C" and Standard First Aid Certificate (EMR certification or higher is preferred).
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
- Able to obtain an Alberta Class 3 Driver's License with a Q-endorsement within three (3) years.
- Maintain physical standard set by the Morinville Fire Department for high stress working conditions that include heights, heavy lifting, physical exertion, and rapidly changing conditions found in dealing with emergencies.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability in working with fellow staff, organizational departments and volunteers.
- Commitment to a minimum attendance rate of 65% for regularly scheduled training nights, held every Wednesday.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector and Drivers Abstract is a condition of employment.
