MOBIA is currently seeking a Technician to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. In this role, you will work with copper and fibre optic cabling, collaborate with engineers to achieve project objectives and assist in estimating project deliverables. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in structured cabling installation or a related field, along with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments, including heights and outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, configure and test copper and fiber optic cabling & equipment according to industry standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the layout for cabling & equipment installations.
- Perform cable testing using tools like OTDR, VFL, and Fluke testers to ensure compliance with performance standards.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and test results.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure project objectives are met.
- Adhere to corporate & customer safety practices and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist in estimating project deliverables, including material lists and labour hours.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in structured cabling installation or related field.
- Experience with network hardware such as switches, routers, and patch panels.
- Proficiency with tools and techniques used in cabling installations (e.g., crimpers, punch-down tools, fibre cleavers).
- Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA, and/or IEEE standards.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments, including heights, and outdoor conditions.
- Preferred Skills:
- BICSI certification (e.g., RCDD, Technician).
- Experience installing DC-powered equipment
