001- Culture & Way of Life Program Developer

About the Role:

The Culture & Way of Life Project Developer provides operational oversight to a wide variety of program deliverables and works directly with both internal and external partners in supporting the culture and way of life programming of the MNO.  They liaise, coordinate and build collaborative relationships with MNO community councils, citizens and a variety of MNO staff, volunteers, contractors and other external education and culture partners.  Culture & Way of Life Project Developers share MNO program information, and Métis history, culture and Way of Life knowledge, provide professional development opportunities and develop relationships at provincial and community levels.

What you will be doing: 

• Utilize specialized knowledge of Métis history, culture and way of life to meet program, Branch and organizational needs
• Delivery of MNO Culture and Way of Life Program goals and objectives, as outlined in work plans or other directives, in a timely and effective manner, within budget, or the parameters of the funding agreement(s)
• Design and deliver Métis history, culture and way of life programming and resources to a wide variety of audiences (MNO citizens, MNO staff, MNO Community councils, education partners, etc.)
• Maintain participant files, including notes for pertinent data collection, ensuring confidentiality at all times
• Perform administrative and support duties such as monitoring work queues, general e-mail boxes, web ‘contact us’ requests, researching and preparing detailed and accurate briefing notes, program reports, presentations, or other materials to communicate and/or share knowledge and expertise
• Develop programs, policies, work plans and proposals based on demographic, social and economic research and analysis
• Act within the guidelines of associated professional designations/standards
• Respond to the needs of internal and external clients as required
• Conduct program and project evaluation, using a variety of research and evaluation tools
• Responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of key stakeholder relationships involving, but not limited to, MNO staff, MNO leadership, MNO Community Councils, MNO Citizens, institutional and government partners, volunteers and MNO contractors on culture and way-of-life project initiatives

Qualifications:

• Completion of post-secondary education in a related field, such as Outdoor Recreation, Bachelor of Education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold Métis rights and culture
• Knowledge of Ontario Métis history, culture, way of life, issues, and current activities
• A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
• Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Strong project coordination, including the design and implementation of project work plans
• Superior organization skills and time/priority-management
• Highly detail-oriented
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and assess changing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, demonstrate good judgement, and make decisions independently within set processes and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of previous experience in a similar/comparable role
• Demonstrated experience in planning, development, implementation, delivery and management of innovative and engaging community-based programs such as workshops, activities, presentations, programs or other events focusing on Métis history, culture and way of life (i.e. harvesting, decorative arts, etc.)
• Experience working with Métis Youth, Elders, Senators and Knowledge Holders in developing and delivering cultural and way-of-life programs.
• Experience dealing with confidential information
• Demonstrated ability to write high-quality evidence and data-based reports and professional presentations
• Demonstrated ability in policy and program development and evaluation
