011 - Coordinator, Victim Services Activities

About The Role:

The Victim Services Activities Coordinator will develop an evidence-informed, needs-based, and culturally-appropriate workshop and programming on the prevention of violence in Métis communities.  The Coordinator will conduct a needs assessment, develop and implement workshops, conduct training for other staff, and evaluate the program.

What you will be doing:

• Ensure that the Victim Services program is delivered in the spirit and philosophy of the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Statement of Prime Purpose
• Support research and community engagement to determine needs around the root causes of violence and the needs of communities (This includes reviewing program data, conducting reviews of available literature, and seeking staff and client feedback through interviews and surveys)
• Summarize findings into a report that can be leveraged for program development and advocacy
• Liaise and establish linkages with various levels of stakeholders (local, provincial, federal) Indigenous and main-stream service delivery bodies to facilitate program delivery and alignment
• Develop workshops with the focus of prevention and awareness of root causes of victimization
• Coordinate and facilitate workshops
• Train, equip, and support Victim Services Coordinators and other MNO staff to deliver workshops
• Collaborate with Communications and Community Relations to promote workshops and events.
• Record activities in the Online Health and Access Tracking System (OHATS).
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to privacy legislation
• Perform Administrative duties and other duties as instructed by the Supervisor
• Complete financial reporting specific to your program site and budget
• Reflect Métis cultural approaches as a part of the activities and services
• Participate in on-going professional development activities
• Attend training and meetings outside Métis Nation of Ontario working hours
• Fulfill all other responsibilities as determined by management of Community Wellbeing  Branch

Qualifications:

• Experience working in Victims Services or Violence Against Women with a focus on Women and Children, or Older Adults, or LGBTQQI2S, or Youth, or people living with disabilities
• Experience working with Métis communities and/or other Indigenous communities
• Experience facilitating and developing impactful public education activities
• Demonstrated ability in program development and evaluation
• Demonstrated ability to write high quality evidence and data-based reports and professional presentations
• Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment
• Previous experience dealing with confidential information
• Degree in social services
• Experience facilitating and developing impactful public education activities
• Proficiency with computer programs (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
• Superior organization skills

All positions at the MNO may require the following:

1. Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain
2. Completion and maintenance of Vulnerable Sector Verification
3. A reliable vehicle (or ability to rent), driver’s licence, $1,000,000 liability insurance, and a clean driving record
4. Flexibility to work extended hours as necessary
5. Ability to occasionally travel within Ontario for limited periods of time
