About the Role:
In accordance with the goals and objectives of MNO and MNO Education and Training programs, case manage Métis client activity related to skills development using designated database management system. Work closely with team members on the implementation of client action plans. Build partnerships with other local delivery partners in regional area.
What you will be doing:
- Ensure that Labour Market programs are delivered in accordance with the goals and objectives of MNO and MNO Education and Training programs
- Identify client employment and training needs and attainable employment goals by: conducting needs assessments, employability assessments; and developing return to work action plan with clients
- Case manage client files effectively, which involves ongoing monitoring of client attendance, performance and employment outcomes
- provide client counseling and job coaching to clients; follow-up with clients after he/she has met employment goals and offer additional supports and coaching, if required, to ensure long-term client success
- Update client database system in a timely manner in order to meet standardized deadlines
- Monitor and report on skills training budget
- Provide monthly, quarterly and yearly tracking and performance reports and complete fiscal year work plan activities
- Coordinate with the Employment Developer successful client job searches by: orientating clients to services and opportunities available through MNO and other regional employment Services
- Critique and compose resumes, cover letters; assist in developing and facilitating job search workshops and career development techniques;
- Referring clients to alternative funding services and other appropriate programs in the region as needed;
- Assisting clients in the utilization of office equipment such as faxes, photocopiers, computers and printers
- Maintaining an accurate and up to date job posting board
- Maintaining a relevant and current knowledge of the local labour market
- Update and provide information on financial supports, bursaries and scholarships for post-secondary students
- Assist in the planning and participate in job fairs activities
- Establish links with other Aboriginal and Employment groups and organizations
- Liaise with Regional Advisory Committee (RAC), Metis Awards Committee, Regional Counsellor, Metis Community, trainers, high schools, post-secondary institutions and HRDC; establish a good working relationship with community
- Collaborate with Employment Developer(s) and other project staff to serve client employment and training needs
- Establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other MNO branches
- Attend meetings, training, workshops and seminars as required
- Support the administration of the Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary Program
- This position requires some travel, requiring flexible hours and “out of town stays” at times
- Fulfill all other responsibilities as determined by the MNO Labour Market Manager
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma and/or 3-5 years of related administrative, social services experience
- Knowledge of Métis Nation of Ontario, Métis community, history, culture and traditions, and Aboriginal Employment Programs and Services
- Experience working in a non-profit environment
- Well-developed administrative and organizational skills, organized and detail oriented
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Computer skills
- Finance knowledge (budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, reporting)
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- Availability to travel, at times out of town, requiring overnight stays
