About the role:

The prime objective of the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Family Supports Administrator to assist the Manager of Early Learning and Child Care while performing the job duties outlined below:

  • Administrating client services and program delivery for ELCC family supports programs
  • Case management for accessing ELCC services
  • Provide overall operational/administrative administration of the programs
  • Coordinate project initiatives
  • Collaboratively work with MNO staff, MNO leadership, MNO Citizens, potential industry and government partners, and MNO contractors as required.

What you will be doing:

The Education and Training Early Learning and Child Care Program Family Supports Administrators  reports to the Manager of Early Learning and Child Care and is responsive to the Director of Education and Training. In carrying out the following duties, it is expected that the ELCC Family Supports Administrators  will:

  • Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of the Métis Nation of Ontario Statement of Prime Purpose (SPP) to all MNO’s work, and to the requirements of the position specifically
  • Always adhere to MNO Policies and Procedures and MNO’s Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Always uphold MNO’s Standards of Professional Conduct.
  • Always adhere to Privacy Laws and respect confidential information.  
  • Be cognizant of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers' Safety and Insurance Board, and other relevant legislation.   
  • Work in collaboration within the branch, other MNO branches, MNO leadership, MNO citizens, stakeholders, contractors, and vendors as required
  • Attend the Annual General Assembly
  • Be cognizant of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers' Safety and Insurance Board, and other relevant legislation.   
  • Understand Early Childhood Education, child care licensing, ministry documents and policy involving Early Childhood Education and Child Care.

The incumbent is responsible for the following duties, as well as other duties as may be assigned by the manager:

  • Effectively oversee the day-to-day management of assigned caseload
  • Assist clients with Early Learning programs and services, including case file management; This includes programs provided by the MNO and programs offered by other levels of government and non-profit organizations.
  • Support specific case load and monitor the life cycle of the caseload (initial application, approvals, payments, and annual reviews as necessary)
  • Assist with new program development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation and regularly review current programs
  • Foster teamwork and co-operation
  • Use office software and hardware to communicate and collaborate with Métis Citizens, MNO staff, and ELCC partners including child care providers
  • Assist in the coordination of the processing of financial administrative and operational procedures (i.e., purchase orders, expense claims, bill back submissions and purchase card reconciliation)
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops and in communities when directed
  • Participate in presentations about the various projects and the MNO to key stakeholders as required
  • Gather project statistics as directed, establish, and maintain spreadsheets
  • Outreach and build relationships with stakeholders as required
  • Engage, develop, and maintain strong relationships with partners, including ELCC clients    
  • Promote Métis culture
  • Maintain an effective, confidential, and accountable filing system
  • Some travel throughout the province and extended hours of work may be required
  • Fulfill all other responsibilities as determined by the Manager of Early Learning and Childcare

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education and/or 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a social services environment or in an administrative role within an Early Childhood Program and/or a minimum of three years experience in case management, budgeting, program delivery and reporting, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator designation from the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators would be an asset
  • Well-developed administrative, analytical, time management, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of program administration, budgeting/financial management, program planning, and coordinating
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education, child care licensing, ministry documents and policy involving Early Childhood Education would be an asset
  • Demonstrated results-oriented skills and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of tact and discretion
  • English (Bilingualism English/French is an asset but not mandatory)
  • Strong knowledge and application of keyboarding, Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, various databases
  • Strong knowledge of case management in a social services setting would be an asset
  • Experience with standard office equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations and take appropriate action
  • Work effectively both independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to travel, at times in a rental vehicle, may be required
  • Available to travel for extended periods of time at locations other than local workplace
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
