Construction Contract Administrator - Land Development

Tailoring our approach to the specific nature of the development, we meticulously prepare engineering documents necessary for approvals, construction and municipal acceptance and/or assumption. These documents serve as a testament to our unwavering commitment to adhere to municipal design standards and criteria, assuring the municipality that the proposed development won't adversely affect adjacent properties or downstream infrastructure.
The Land Development department is looking for someone with contract administration expertise to join the team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the land development team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks over the life of a typical project which would range from input and review during the engineering design, preparation of tender documents, tendering, to construction inspection and administration. We have a dedicated Contract Administration and Construction Inspection team which we work with closely, however it is critical that we have dedicated staff to manage our land development focused construction projects and provide engineering and contractual support throughout construction.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Construction project management including the preparation of tender documents, design specifications, quantity estimates, payment certificates, change orders and responses to Requests for Information;
- Interpretation of requirements and details of all Contract drawings and specifications including the identification and follow-up action on Contractual and regulatory infractions;
- Reviewing, interpreting and analyzing the contractor’s critical path schedules;
- Proactively looking for issues, recommending mitigation measures, evaluating incidents early and adapting as needed;
- Liaising with Contractors, Clients and project stakeholders;
- Coordination with the Contract Administration and Construction Inspection team to coordinate on-site inspection and proper documentation of on-site activities; and if required, and
- Inspecting construction operations from time to time to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or College diploma in Civil Engineering;
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications;
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D would be considered an asset;
- Excellent communication, problem solving and attention to detail skills;
- Demonstrated willingness to learn;
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment;
- Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance; and
- Ability to work flexible schedules and travel to site locations within the area;
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated experience as a Contract Administrator, Construction Project Manager, or Project Engineer with experience on municipal projects;
- 5+ years experience in construction administration/project management; and
- Previous experience in engineering design would be considered an asset.
