The Role:

 

As part of the growth of Egis into North America our Geotechnical team is expanding its service offerings and expanding in Eastern Ontario. The Geotechnical group boasts a foundations engineering group with experience in delivering solutions spanning residential to large-scale infrastructure projects for both private and public sector clients. To supplement the foundations team, the geotechnical team is complimented by seasoned pavement engineers specializing in expert pavement design, evaluation, and management. Our team is well-equipped to handle diverse challenges, and operating two CCIL certified laboratories, we ensure rigorous testing for soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. As an integral part of Egis' unwavering commitment to a diverse clientele, our geotechnical team plays a pivotal role in ensuring project success.

 

As a part of the expansion of the Geotechnical Team, Egis is looking for a person to lead our Ottawa based team and support the services offered by our laboratory.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Being a licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario; 
  • A minimum of 10 years of consulting experience in Ontario;
  • Previous experience with MTO projects and have RAQs certification (low to medium complexity) is an asset;
  • Knowledge and working experience with applicable regulations, codes, and guidelines such as CFEM, CHBDC, OPSS, OBC, etc.
  • Having strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Possession of a Graduate Degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering is an asset; 
  • Possession of Class G driver’s license;
  • Ability to demonstrate or provide evidence of project management skills, client management, and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated experience working with or managing multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Previous construction inspection experience;
  • Laboratory experience in reviewing/ordering testing or management of laboratory operations is an asset, and;
  • Demonstrated project experience working with various municipalities across Ontario with preference given to previous experience within the Ottawa. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and foster client relationships throughout the project term, including providing technical advice and managing project schedules and budgets 
  • Managing the proposal process including preparing costs estimates for public and private sector markets; 
  • Project management of geotechnical investigation and design assignments including responsibility for project scope, schedule, quality, safety, and cost control;
  • Geotechnical analysis, design and reporting;
  • Liaise and collaborate with other disciplines within McIntosh Perry on joint proposals and projects;
  • Conduct site reviews as needed during conceptual, investigation, and construction phases;
  • Liaise with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Play an active role in business development activities and marketing by establishing and maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and geotechnical design training to staff as required.
