The Opportunity

Join our new Urban Forestry division! We're growing and are looking for an experienced Urban Forestry Professional with a passion for urban and interface forest design, paired with strong project management and client relations skills, to expand our services. Based out of our Langley office, our group provides project services from the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island and Southern Interior BC.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing large-scale tree management plans and strategies for land development, community planning, and local / provincial transportation projects
  • Preparing drawings for tree removal, retention, protection, replacement tree and/or forest planting
  • Managing project scopes and budgets on dedicated and multi-disciplinary projects
  • Collaborating on design outcomes with multi-disciplinary project teams and clients
  • Field-based inspections / site meetings in the Lower Mainland with occasional site visits throughout BC (1-2 days per week on average)
  • Wildfire risk assessments and mitigation prescriptions including subcontractor management
  • Community consultation and engagement on urban forestry planning projects
  • Writing reports, proposals, and reviewing reports, drawings and documents for quality assurance

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience as a forestry or arboricultural consultant 
  • Full Class 5 vehicle operator’s license
  • ISA Certified with TRAQ designation
  • Registered with ABCFP with RFT, FIT, or RPF designation (compensation to suit) or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • Experience in community wildfire and urban forest management and planning
  • Danger Tree Assessor certification (optional asset)
  • Proficiency or operational knowledge in AutoCAD (optional asset)

 

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $114,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
