The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Intermediate Transportation Project Manager to deliver transportation infrastructure projects by bringing together our diverse technical experts and designers to create innovative solutions to client needs.  Rural projects can be complex, with many stakeholders and partners, so we are looking for project leaders that can make clients feel confident they are getting best-in-class service on their project and are always thinking 2-3 steps ahead.

This role will be based within the Alternative Project Delivery team which functions company wide with a well-diversified and experienced team with 25 years in Western Canada. The team specializes in complex project design and delivery, while leveraging the 1400+ McElhanney staff for expert local knowledge and support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across western Canada. You'll work closely with stakeholders to align incentives, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This role offers the ability to be eligible for shareholding privileges in an employee-owned company.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Project Manage small to medium infrastructure projects with a focus on being responsive to clients’ requests - monitor and control project financials, schedule, and scope. Project experience with Alberta Transportation and City of Calgary and general project administration is a benefit.
  • Oversee the preparation of design drawings and tender documents.
  • Act as the Consultant representative during construction, including coordination with both clients, contractors and field staff.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams including civil, geotechnical, environmental, electrical, stormwater, structural, architectural, and other specialists to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain the team’s engagement and quality of work from concept through to construction completion.
  • Respond to competitive RFPs, liaise with clients, and find opportunities to leverage our inter-disciplinary teams to provide value-added services.
  • Participate in industry and professional groups such as CEA, ITE, etc.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing transportation projects.
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or a Professional Technologist (P.Tech) in Alberta.
  • Has a proven track record of coordinating inter-disciplinary rural projects.
  • Strong industry reputation and network connections in Calgary and the surrounding areas.
  • Excellent at establishing shared clarity in communications and coordinating teams.
  • Demonstrate a track record of maintaining satisfied clients and delivering on time and budget.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this role is $91, 520 - $135,200 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
