Role Overview
McElhanney has an opportunity for a Senior CAD Technician to join our team in Campbell River! This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a challenging opportunity in CAD Drafting and Civil3D design, with skills to be utilized on a wide variety of municipal engineering & land development projects. The ideal individual will come with solid experience in AutoCAD & Civil 3D software. The ability to use Infraworks, rendering software and/or experience with GIS is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the cost effective, proper and timely production of civil engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
- Assist in transforming preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
- Translate preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering plans according to client-specific standards, using primarily AutoCAD, as well as other technical software as needed.
- Assist junior drafters in the production of engineering plans for municipal & land development projects.
- Coordinate with other drafting and engineering team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
- Collaborate with other disciplines both internally and externally.
- Assisting in improving AutoCAD standards.
Requirements
- Certificate or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, with at least 8 years’ experience in civil drafting and design.
- Registration as an A.Sc.T. or working towards it other technical accreditations is an asset.
- Expertise in AutoCAD/Civil 3D is mandatory.
- Experience with Infraworks and GIS software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and drive for excellence.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Ability to work without supervision as well as within a busy and close-knit team environment.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
