What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist in the use of GNSS receivers for RTK, RTN, static measurements, and total stations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to prepare files, maps, and survey data for project delivery.
- Research plans, titles, documents, and related geospatial information.
- Maintain, clean, monitor, and report the condition of equipment and vehicles.
- Work in both office and field environments, including urban centers, prairies, and boreal forests, gaining exposure to a variety of McElhanney services.
- Learn about and operate emerging technologies, including drones, unmanned bathymetric survey boats, and 3D laser scanning equipment.
- Participate in McElhanney’s industry-leading safety practices to meet and exceed client needs, ensuring that our teams "Think Safe, Work Safe, and Get Home Safe.
What You’ll Focus On:
As part of your experience, you’ll choose a primary discipline from the following areas, allowing you to gain specialized knowledge and skills. Based on your interest, you will work on real-world projects, supported by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Geomatics & Geospatial: Involve yourself in Oil & Gas Surveys, Pipeline Surveys, Municipal & Land Development, and Transportation Surveys, providing critical surveying support for infrastructure projects.

GIS: Work on Geospatial Projects, focusing on mapping and data management.

Geomatics Technology & Remote Sensing: Gain hands-on experience in various surveys while utilizing advanced technologies like drones, 3D laser scanning, and various other tools.

Ground Disturbance & One Call: Engage in Line Locating and ground disturbance management, ensuring safe excavation practices through One Call documentation.
What You’ll Bring:
- Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Geomatics Engineering.
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings including wilderness/backcountry environments for extended periods with varied hours.
- A willingness and ability to work out of town on an as needed basis (up to three weeks away at a time).
- Physical ability to work in on busy sites with varied terrain and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Previous work experience working in outdoors environments is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail, good judgement and clear communication skills.

- Hourly range: $22/h to $33/h. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
