OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: 

 

As a potential UI/UX Designer with Mariner, you’ll have the opportunity to work on dynamic projects that challenge conventional thinking and create value for users. While this role is not currently open, we’re building a talent pool of exceptional designers for future opportunites. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE (subject to project scope):

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to understand user needs and behaviors.
  • Design user interfaces that align with project goals, client branding, and industry best practices.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
  • Ensure all designs are optimized for usability, accessibility, and responsiveness across devices.
  • Maintain and improve design systems, style guides, and component libraries.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve Mariner’s design standards.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing web and mobile designs.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with development teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate user feedback into actionable design improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and justify design decisions.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience of working in or with a public sector environment would be considered an asset.
