Pharmacy Student - PT

Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Student to join our team at PharmaChoice in Barrhead, AB.

This role will require more hours during the summer and part-time hours during the school year, with flexibility depending on schedule.

Location: 5036A - 50 Street, Barrhead, AB

Store hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, Saturday & Sunday closed

Job Description:

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The pharmacy student must be always under the supervision of a pharmacist. All dispensing functions performed by a pharmacy student must be carried out following provincial regulations and standards of practice.

• Filling, preparing and labelling prescription refills.
• Billing and adjudication.
• Compounding.
• Medication change management for compliance packaging for care home customers.
• Preparing care home orders for delivery.
• Communication with nursing staff at care homes.
• Assisting the pharmacist in their daily tasks.
• Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication.
• Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialed by the pharmacist.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Currently enrolled in the PharmD program at any level.
• Previous Retail Pharmacy experience is an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and have experience multi-tasking.
• Professional attitude and ability to communicate well with customers and co-workers.
• Due to this position’s sensitive nature, the successful candidate must complete a Criminal Record Check.
