Job Title: Director, Engineering (On Site)

Location: G3 Head Office, Winnipeg

 

The Director of Engineering will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Engineering department, ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects. This role requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in project management, engineering, and team leadership. The Director will oversee the overall G3 Engineering program and manage cross-functional teams to achieve Engineering goals and organizational objectives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develops and implements strategic plans for the Engineering department. Aligns Engineering goals with the company’s overall strategy and objectives.
  • Oversees the planning, execution, and completion of major engineering projects. Ensures projects are delivered is a safe manner, on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Provides guidance and support the ongoing asset health of existing facilities.
  • Leads, mentors, and manages the Engineering team. Fosters a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Identifies and implements best practices and process improvements to enhance project efficiency, quality, and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including senior G3 executives and managers, regulators, Authorities and business partners. Communicates project status, risks, and issues effectively.
  • Develops and manages project budgets and resource allocation. Ensures optimal utilization of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Identifies project risks and develops mitigation strategies. Addresses and resolves issues and challenges that arise during project execution.
  • Ensures engineering practices and project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, technologies, and innovations. Incorporates new methodologies and technologies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Prepares and presents detailed project reports, including progress updates, financials, and performance metrics. Maintains accurate project documentation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering or management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing large-scale and complex engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
