Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Grader Operator is responsible for assisting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman with accomplishing the project goals and day-to-day objectives and to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focus:
- Operate and maintain a grader, or company vehicle to support other equipment operators and operations in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment.
- Assist with general maintenance, upkeeping, cleaning, labour tasks and/or duties as needed at the office, yard, or on a project worksite.
- Act as a spotter for vehicle or equipment moves if necessary
- Participate in toolbox meetings, provide suggestions for improvement and safety
- Advise Team Lead or Shift Supervisor of any required maintenance or repairs of the equipment.
- Maintain a safe disposition at all times, ensure the safety of the client site and more importantly, the safety of fellow personnel/drivers. Freeze the scene of any potential or actual incident.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and requirements as laid out by the client at all times while on the worksite.
- Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license and clean three (3) year drivers abstract is required
- At least 1+ years of experience as an equipment operator experience within the construction industry located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment\ relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.
- CSO or BSO or CSTS/ OSSA is required.
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
- Able to accept direction without question, a positive attitude, and able to work in a team environment.
- College or industry courses in heavy equipment operating is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Focus oriented, with a strong attention to detail
This is a temporary full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Kearl Site.
Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift.
