Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Heavy Equipment- Dozer Operator is responsible for assisting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman with accomplishing the project goals and day-to-day objectives and to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses:
- Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines
- Operate controls to properly regulate height and angle of the blade
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment
- Operate the dozer on surfaces to raise or lower terrain either as specified in the scope of work; reclamation; ditching, sloping, levelling, ripping, pushing piles, rough to final grading, clean up support for soil, rock or other debris.
- Operate dozer proficiently in close proximity to other vehicles, ground personnel, and utilities
- Maintain equipment, report any maintenance required
- Adhere to all Fort McKay Group of Companies policies and procedures, wear/maintain all PPE, reliably show up for work fit for duty, and complete any Field Level Hazard Assessments
- (FLRA) and control hazards related to the scope of work
- Assist the Labourers or any other Operator as needed
- Perform any related and/or additional construction duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
- 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
- At least 3+ years of experience operating a dozer with construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.
- Must have experience with D8 to D10 dozers
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary, project based position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Kearl Oil Sands Site.
Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift.
Camp and flights available from Edmonton and Calgary ONLY.
