Join The Team:

ERCO’s Port Edwards Plant is looking for a Process Controls Engineer to join it’s team! Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the core function of the job is supporting and leading the E&I, DCS and PLC controls work at the plant, also responsible to interface with the Corporate Controls group, suppliers and complete continuous improvement items in the site.

 

The Role:

  • Performing quality assurance on existing manufacturing processes.
  • Identifying areas that need process control optimization.
  • Evaluating the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment and tools.
  • Driving process control innovation in collaboration with senior managers.
  • Recommending suitable software solutions and automating manufacturing processes.
  • Managing Capital projects from conception to completion.
  • Training teams on the implementation of new processes.
  • Keeping process control operations within budget without compromising quality and efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Documenting processes and preparing progress reports.
  • Keeping abreast of developments and innovation in process control engineering.

Support and Leadership

  • Provide process controls expertise and PLC troubleshooting and development of continuous improvement projects.
    • Support the site on new process controls implementation.
    • Provide technical guidance on Alarm rationalization and system issues.
  • Process controls development to drive improvements and increase safe operations of the site and systems.
  • Process controls documentation and creating the process control information to train operators on the proper operation and understanding of the systems.
  • Safety Committee representation to ensure controls/ DCS supports the safety goals of the plant.
  • Corporate Controls Supports to new processes and technology for continuous improvements in the site and all locations.
  • Progress update and communication with the project team, plant maintenance and plant management team.
  • Decision making on technical issues for the control’s implementation.
  • Prepare, issue, approve process equipment/instrument specifications.
  • Prepare, issue, approve process design and control documents.
  • Assist with cost estimates to be used for a project controls an document PM plans in the plant CMMS (JDE).
  • Define equipment, tools and software for all controls with Corporate guidelines/technical support.
  • Equipment selection for all controls and DCS equipment with Corporate Senior Technical Leadership.

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or in an Industry-related field is required.
  • Two years of experience in process control engineering in a related industry.
  • Extensive industry-specific process control knowledge (chemical operations or similar manufacturing systems, Allan Bradley PLC controls, Delta V controls and other DCS Systems experience).
  • Specialization in process controls systems preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Superb analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Great organizational, time management and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to understand and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
