Co-op Student - S&R Marketing
Position Title: Co-op – Marketing and Product Strategy Analytics
Reports To: Manager, S&R Marketing
Department: S&R Product and Marketing
Term: Temporary, Four (4) Month Contract
Work Term: May 5, 2025 to August 22, 2025
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity: We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to join our team for a co-op position. This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to gain practical experience in various facets of marketing, including market research, analysis and documentation design and coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with our marketing and product team to contributing to the overall success of our department. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, highly organized, and passionate about marketing.

What you will be doing:
Market Research and Analysis
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities in both marketing and product development. This includes analyzing competitor websites, tracking industry trends, and gathering insights on consumer behavior.
- Monitor competitor actions such as pricing strategies, promotional activities, and product launches. This involves staying updated on industry news and compiling reports on competitor activities.
- Utilize market research tools such as Google Analytics to gather and analyze data.
- Maintain analytics and market dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights. This involves updating KPI dashboards, generating performance reports, and presenting findings to the team.
- Identifying gaps in Equitable’s marketing material and advisor training material when compared to our competitors.
Document Design and Coordination
- Maintain product forms and marketing collateral to ensure compliance with brand standards, plain language guidelines, and legislative requirements. This includes:
- Brand Standards: Ensuring all forms, documents, and marketing collateral adhere to our branding guidelines, including logos, colors, fonts, and overall design consistency. This involves updating templates and reviewing marketing materials for brand alignment.
- Plain Language Guidelines: Reviewing and editing forms, documents, and marketing collateral to ensure they are clear, concise, and easily understood by the target audience. This involves simplifying complex language and ensuring readability.
- Legislative Requirements: Ensuring all forms, documents, and marketing collateral comply with relevant laws and regulations, such as accessibility standards and privacy laws. This involves checking for compliance with accessibility standards and ensuring privacy policies are followed.
- Reviewing our Product webpages and identifying opportunities for refreshed and simplified language. Implement improvements using the content management system
General Marketing and Product Team Support
- Assist with marketing and product team tasks as required. This could include things like meeting support, technical run throughs, database organization and clean up and inbox monitoring.
What you will bring:
- Educational Background: You are currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program, such as Business or Marketing.
- Technical Skills: You have proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI, or Google Data Studio, and you’re comfortable using data analysis tools such as Excel. Proficiency in Google Analytics setup and reporting, including tracking code implementation, goal and funnel configuration, and data filtering.
- Communication Skills: You can effectively communicate your findings and recommendations, both in writing and verbally, to various stakeholders.
- Team Player: You thrive in a collaborative environment but are also capable of working independently to drive projects forward.
- Attention to Detail: You have a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring accuracy and quality in your work.
