Position Title: Director, Investment Finance
Reports To: AVP, Investment Finance, Data Analytics and Operations
Department: Investment Finance, Operations and Data Analytics
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you will be doing:
- Lead a team of accounting professionals and individual contributors by developing and monitoring employee goals, managing performance and coaching to ensure efficient and effective operation of the team
- Hire, mentor and develop staff including designated accountants
- Oversee the creation and delivery of financial reporting to enable effective decision making and/or ensure compliance requirements are met
- Provide support for corporate compliance related initiatives
- Responsible for researching, building, implementing and maintaining appropriate financial reporting controls and analysis for the division
- Oversee the development and implementation of process improvements, data analytics, technical solutions and accounting changes
- Respond to requests for complex or sensitive analysis of financial information from a variety of stakeholders, and determine appropriate methods to obtain data
- Lead the implementation of financial reporting changes and update accounting policies for the division to ensure the Company is compliant with IFRS and other regulations including the implementation of new accounting standards
What you will bring:
- Has obtained, the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation (or international equivalent)
- Post-secondary education with emphasis on accounting and business administration
- Demonstrated people management skills, including leadership, coaching and mentorship
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience, including life insurance and/or investments as required
- Expert knowledge of accounting standards and policies
- Expert knowledge of business risk and financial controls
- Expert communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience in project management, process improvement implementations and working with cross-functional teams
- Expert problem solving, prioritizing and analytical thinking skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting systems
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Strong management and organizational skills in a fast-paced working environment
