Position Title: Web Content Writer
Reports To: Director, Corporate Marketing
Department: Impact Areas
Term: Temporary Full-Time, Six (6) Month Contract 


Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We are seeking a passionate, professional and highly skilled content writer to play a pivotal role on the project team crafting compelling copy that resonates with Canadians.  We think of our public website like our front door, where we welcome future clients, employees and partners looking to learn more about us. This is a unique opportunity to help deliver our content strategy and redefine how we communicate our brand on our website in a clear and effective way.  

Insurance can be complex, but it doesn’t have to be!  As a Web Content Writer, you will craft engaging content that takes complex information and presents it in a clear, simple way that demonstrates how easy it is to do business with Equitable. Your role will involve developing content that takes into consideration page type and target audience and aligns with our brand voice.

You excel at transforming information and complex ideas into clear copy that resonate and connects people with our brand. Collaborating closely with product and marketing specialists, designers and technical writers you will develop content that incorporates feedback while maintaining consistency and adhering to writing guidelines across our website.   

This role will engage stakeholders across all lines of business, corporate services and investments – the entire organization – to bring together a cohesive content strategy that is easily digestible.

What you will be doing:

• Write copy for new web pages on a variety of financial services products and topics.
• Collaborate with business units and the Brand Impact team to execute on content creation.
• Manage the content tasks, review and feedback loops assigned to you.
• Balance input from multiple sources with the need for consistency in brand voice and content structure.
• Craft compelling calls to action with an eye for the user’s journey both online and offline.
• Provide relevant and considerate content by writing in a clear, accurate and compelling way.
• Leverage established communication guidelines.
• Assist in evolving our clear communications guidelines and strategy. 
• Work with Legal and Compliance to ensure content is appropriately and responsibly launched.
• Work closely with localization writer to ensure alignment of the overall message.
• Multitask and change context quickly across multiple content pieces and stakeholders

What you will bring:

• 5+ years of experience as a Content Writer.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Public Relations.
• Experience developing content within the financial services, or highly regulated industry·
• Expert content writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to collect content and communication requirements from stakeholders to inform your writing.
• Familiarity with writing accessible web content.
• Experience in using content templates to align your content creation with wireframes.
• Experience with incorporating SEO best practices into your writing.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to keep your delivery on time.
• Ability to deliver high quality content in a fast-paced environment.
