Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity: Equitable continues to invest deeply in digital capabilities and services. We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Architect to join our Enterprise Content Management team! In this role, the successful candidate will take a lead role on building out designs to achieve Business outcomes, focused on efficiency and business value to various business teams utilizing components of Equitable’s capture, imaging, and business process automation solutions.

What you will be doing:
- Lead technical architect and solution deliverables based on business outcomes and requirements.
- Architect & implement a highly scalable and resilient Enterprise Integration architecture using off the shelf middleware and cloud services.
- Collaborating with IT and business partners to understand the application footprint, business flows and integration points across the applications.
- Clearly articulate integration best practices, design patterns for error handling, alerting, notifications, and recommendations to IT teams and also business sponsors.
- Partner with IT platform team (data, security) and vendors to implement out of the box integrations across external or SaaS systems.
- Support multiple teams of application/integration developers to build, test and deploy integrations.
- Review, monitor project team's adherence to enterprise patterns, coding standards & implementation framework.
- Ensure technology and designs adhere to architecture best practice, Enterprise Technology Governance and architecture review processes and standards (Technology Governance Committee, ARB processes)
- Lead and participate in technology product evaluations.
- Develop and maintain enterprise technology roadmaps in consultation with the Business and IT leadership teams.
- Lead and facilitate the design and implementation of repeatable technical solutions and processes related to technology architecture.
- Lead analysis of the current technology architecture to detect deficiencies, risk, and recommend improvements.
- Analyze industry trends to determine potential impact on the enterprise architecture.
- Consult with application development project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accommodate project needs.
- Participate in Enterprise Technology Governance and architecture review processes and committees (e.g. Technology Governance Committee, ARB processes) to guide EA decision making.
- Participate in the architecture Community of Expertise (COE)
- Understand, advocate, and support the enterprise's IT strategies.
What you will bring:
- Previous experience designing solutions for multiple Business partners.
- Precious experience designing solutions for document capture, imaging and business process automation is critical.
- Experience in Health Insurance or Financial Services is an asset.
- The ability to drive business requirements and non-functional requirements.
- Experience with formal Architecture frameworks, e.g. TOGAF.
- Exposure to and an understanding of Waterfall and Agile scrum methodologies and experience working in an Agile team.
- Experience using diagramming tools such as MS Visio.
- Understanding of tools like Teams, GitHub, CICD, and Azure DevOps Services.
- Expertise with queuing systems like Kafka, Azure service bus, event grid
- Strong hands-on experience with services in public clouds AWS and Azure.
- Application development experience with JavaScript, XML, HTTP, Java, SQL, experience with progressive web applications and design systems
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enjoys and excels in a fast-paced environment with some level of ambiguity on requirements.
- Experience working with onsite and offshore consultants for timely and quality delivery.
