Job Description
The Payroll Assistant is responsible for the administration of the company’s time, attendance, and payroll systems, as it pertains to the Hourly pay group. The Payroll Assistant is also responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll reports and administrative tasks as required.
We are looking for: a part-time, permanent Payroll Assistant
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours of Work: 20 hours/week. This is a hybrid work from home role.
Reports to: Manager, Payroll
Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Provide guidance and support to the supervisors/ managers and hourly workers relating to clock in and clock out on DF WFM. Ensure that the timely authorizations are completed each week.
- Set up teams’ meetings with new hourly employees to show them how to enter their hours and request TAFW.
- Prepare, generate, and maintain related payroll records and payroll reports and distribution of reports.
- Maintain data entry for all time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hire, termination, leave of absence, review entitlement policy field.
- Respond to payroll team mailbox relating to employee queries.
- Distribution of T2200 forms for all employees.
- Additional tasks will be given depending on the business requirements.
Payroll and Finance: Excellence and Quality Improvement
- Research and resolve problems, perform scheduled activities.
- Prepare and maintain standard reports, queries, and conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity.
Team Building and Leadership
- Actively participate in team initiatives and meetings
- Build support for agency vision and departmental goals/objectives by communicating, collaborating, and leading by example.

Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience with primary responsibility for time and attendance and payroll administration and processing.
- Knowledge of payroll processing.
- Effective utilization of computer equipment and software in the performance of duties.
- Ability to apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an inquiring mindset.
- Committed to working in a complex financial and/or payroll environment to ensure accuracy, compliance and maximization of employee performance and effectiveness.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to promote and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task and work well within a team.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and other payroll applications.
- Ceridian Dayforce experience an asset.
