What You'll Get to Do
Reporting directly to the Base Engineer and taking direction from the on-shift Crew Chief, the Calm Air Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice Co-op program will allow students participating to gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced aviation environment. In this role, you will assist with inspections, repairs, and routine maintenance on aircraft, ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will develop technical skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, and gain valuable insight into aircraft systems and maintenance procedures. This opportunity will provide you with real-world exposure to the aviation industry and working as an AME in a northern environment, helping you build a strong foundation for a successful career in aircraft maintenance.

  • Carry out line and heavy maintenance
  • Handle daily flight snags
  • Seat/Cargo configurations
  • General duties related to hangar and equipment upkeep
  • De-icing
  • GSE Repairs and Servicing
  • Participation in the Safety Management System
  • Maintain all assigned training required within job role
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of Work

  • Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends
  • A minimum of two rotations will be based in Winnipeg, MB and a minimum of two rotations will be based in Rankin Inlet, NU

Skills & Experience We Value 

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Candidates must be enrolled and attending a Transport Canada approved basic training program
  • Basic Computer skills (word, excel, office)
  • Knowledge of an airline’s operations an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 75lbs
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance qualification
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
