What You'll Get to Do
The Maintenance Quality and Safety Manager conducts investigations generated from safety, compliance or operational hazards reported in the company’s hazard database. They identify Subject Matter Experts, gather data, interview, perform data and risk analysis, determine root causes, and collaborate with leads in the development of corrective action. They record actions and details in the company’s hazard database and facilitates the Risk Management Process. They primarily perform Maintenance Quality Assurance audits and additional quality control duties associated with the Risk Management process and Quality Assurance audits. 

Operations:

  • Conducted investigations as assigned within assigned timelines
  • Conduct interviews to gain information applicable to the investigation
  • Identify and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts additional safety issues, risk assessment and regulatory conformance
  • Identify applicable regulations
  • Gather data and evidence to support the investigative process
  • Analyze data to identify trends
  • Conduct root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop Corrective Action Plans to address the root cause
  • Collect information and evidence gain and compile into a final report
  • Record actions and details in the company’s hazard database related to risk management records
  • Facilitate the risk management process with department heads and risk management leads
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the audit checklists
  • Completion of assigned follow-up of corrective action plans driven from the Hazard report database
  • Completion of audit reports and summaries for review and distribution
  • Completion of regulatory or procedural audits as directed
  • Develop and distribute audit reports/findings arising from the performance of regulatory/procedural audits
  • Observe any regulatory or procedural short comings and advise the applicable department head of the observed short comings or in instances where a regulatory non-compliance is observed, generate a finding against the non-compliancy with the approval of the VP, Quality and Safety
  • Comply with all regulatory and company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Use personal protective equipment as required
  • Actively identify and report hazards and potential hazards
  • Other duties as assigned

Safety:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety and actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management system
  • SMS department head responsible to approve SMS caps
  • Once assigned a report through the SMS Database:  must ensure all steps are followed as outlined in the SMS Procedures Manual in respect to the review, investigation, hazard analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action plan and monitoring of each individual report
  • Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department
  • Promote occupational health and safety within your department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
  • Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department

MANAGERS, SPERVISORS AND LEADS – have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system.  Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities.  Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)

Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained.  Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided.  Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report).  Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required.

Skills & Experience We Value 

  • Post-secondary education in related field as asset
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer experience required
  • Previous experience in related role required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, in addition to internal systems
  • Clear understanding of Quality Assurance Audit processes and procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required security clearances
  • Travel required
  • Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
