What You'll Get to Do
The Flight Operations Coordinator (FOC) is an integral part of Calm Air’s airline operations. Working in the Systems Operational Coordination Centre (SOCC), the Flight Operations Coordinator will ensure resources are in place for planned scheduled and charter flights and irregular operations situations are handled smoothly. The FOC will enhance the effectiveness of Calm Air’s Commercial Operations department by ensuring operational decision making takes customer service into consideration.

  • Monitor day-of-flight operations
  • Schedule day to day flying operations
  • Complete routine administrative tasks
  • Proactively anticipate operational problems and effect appropriate mitigation plan
  • React to irregular operations situations in accordance with written procedures
  • Maintain effective communication with all operational departments
  • Ensure resources and logistics are ready for upcoming operations
  • Assign flight crews in compliance with CARS regulations while also considering CUPE/ALPA collective agreements
  • Rescheduling flight crews as well as administration of all flight crew sick, emergency day and/or other non-routine or scheduled time-off
  • Scheduling and making reservations for “deadhead” crews
  • Handling of IRROPS passengers including hotels, meal vouchers, and moving them within reservations system
  • Fully adopt and participate in the company’s safety management and quality assurance activities
  • Complete other projects or duties as assigned

Hours of Work

  • Shift work is required and will include day, evening, night and weekend shifts
  • Occasional overtime may be required

Skills & Experience We Value 

  • Previous Dispatch or Flight Crew experience will be an asset
  • Previous airline operations experience preferred
  • Proficiency with computers (MS Office and Intelisys Amelia reservations system)
  • Well organized, detail orientated, ability to multitask and manage time effectively to keep the airline on time and accommodate special projects on an as needed basis
  • Demonstrates excellent work ethic and customer-service relations with staff while using diplomacy and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Must exhibit good judgement and ability to perform in pressure filled situations
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
