Mill Nurse/Health Center Administrator - Contract
AV Group NB Inc. Atholville Mill is currently recruiting for the following position: Mill Nurse/Health Center Administrator – Temporary Contract (12-18 months starting August 2025)
Role Overview
Reporting to the Health Safety & Environment Manager, the successful candidate will be a workplace leader working with a large cross-functional team to promote a safe and healthy workplace, and will oversee the daily operation (Monday-Friday) of our Health Centre.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Medical Support:
- Provide First Aid to injured employees and ensure more advance care is provided when necessary.
- Provide assessment, support and advice to employees for illnesses or medical inquiries (work related or personal).
- Maintain adequate supplies in the Health Center and first aid kits.
- Act as a resource to the Joint Heath Safety Committee.
- Coordinate pre-employment medicals with designated providers and performs various screening tests.
Disability Management:
- Complete WorkSafeNB claims and temporary assignment/accommodation forms.
- Acute follow up care of workplace injuries and illness and coordinate temporary assignments for employees injured at work ensuring that the duties are consistent with their restrictions.
- Facilitate the return-to-work program including modified duty and gradual returns.
- Work with 3rd party health professionals to provide support.
Administrative:
- Maintain various Health Center databases and reports (Fit Testing, WSNB, etc.); track and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintaining of employee health files.
Wellness:
- Create, coordinate and/or develop various wellness programs including but not limited to blood pressure, blood sugar, smoking cessation, Flu, etc. clinics.
- Promote awareness of the company’s Employee Family Assistance Program.
- Develop newsletter articles and coordinate lunch-n-learn workshops.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred, however, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Paramedics are also encouraged to apply and will be considered.
- Some industrial experience would be preferred but not a requirement.
- Emergency room experience is an asset.
- Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and leadership skills are essential.
- Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
