Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent will lead the day-to-day operations of non-inventory procurement to meet the mill requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• Source and purchase materials, supplies, and services according to company needs.
• Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Analyze supplier proposals and make recommendations.
• Review procurement requests for authorization compliance.
• Negotiate with vendors to obtain competitive pricing, favourable terms, and reliable delivery schedules.
• Approve and process purchase orders ensuring accuracy in product specifications, quantities, pricing and timely delivery.
• Coordinate shipping and customs requirements as needed.
• Support corporate purchasing through standardization to maximize savings.
• Maintain detailed records of order, shipments, and invoices for accounting and auditing purposes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on industry trends to recommend improvements.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a similar position in an industrial/manufacturing or mechanical maintenance setting is considered an asset
• Strong negotiation skills and experience with complex contracts
• 2 years of post-secondary education in a related field
• SAP experience is considered an asset

• Advanced computer skills (MS Office)
• Excellent organization and communication skills

• High level of motivation, energy and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Certification in procurement (e.g., CPP, CPM, or similar) would be considered an asset.
