Southbridge Health Care LP (Southbridge) is currently recruiting for a talented Sr. Payroll Manager to join our amazing corporate finance team. Reporting to the Payroll Director, this role will be responsible for leading and providing support to a team of 5 Payroll Advisors and Analysts, ensuring efficient payroll processing, accurate reporting, and adherence to compliance standards are met. The successful incumbent will foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to enhance team productivity and professional development.
The ideal candidate can take on the responsibilities noted below and can handle escalated issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution. They are accustomed to collaborating with both customers and internal teams to address concerns, communicate solutions clearly, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, while upholding a high standard of service excellence. We are looking for an effective manager who can hit the ground running!
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the payroll function across a portfolio of homes via Ceridian Managed Payroll
- Develop and roll out communication-related to changes in payroll (payroll system, legislation, procedures, etc.)
- Train, guide, and mentor home staff on payroll processes (onboarding, processing,
- discrepancies, etc.)
- Assist in implementation of new payroll software, working with implementation team to test data for integrity and accuracy, and assist with roll out to homes.
- Work closely with home staff to ensure accuracy and assist in resolving issues.
- Lead year end audit procedures as they relate to Payroll.
- Lead year end processes for tax reporting (T4s), and discrepancies (PIER).
- Oversee government reporting and manage all remittances (e.g. EHT, garnishment, etc.)
- Oversee payroll related functions related to unions, ensuring collective agreements are
accurately captures (including retro pay), and remittance of dues, for various unions.
- Assist head office in reconciliation of payroll, working closely with the finance team to resolve any issues.
- Work with management to develop and oversee the termination policy and procedure.
- Continuously stay informed on Ontario payroll legislation (as well as specific requirements
related to Long Term Care)
- Maintain client roles with the third party to ensure privacy and prevent fraud.
- Act as the key contact with the third-party payroll provider to resolve issues and ensure accuracy.
- Manage document retention, ensuring policy is met.
- Communicate with third party payroll provider for all relevant payroll tax matters.
- Ad hoc reporting, as required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of full cycle payroll management experience is required.
- Completion of PCP Designation (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) is required.
- Ceridian Dayforce Knowledge or Implementation experience is required.
- Current knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce Managed Payroll or any managed payroll experience.
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g. Dayforce, Kronos, ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
- An analytical mind and good math skills.
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral), able to interact tactfully and professionally with a wide range on internal and external stakeholders, including Mangers.
- BSc/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM, PCP) is a plus.
- Flexibility to work at peak times if demands are present e.g. Year End
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Familiar is CBA (collective bargaining agreements) is considered an asset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
