Position Overview: As a Sous Chef at The Explorer Hotel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Chef in the planning, preparation, and execution of culinary delights. This includes overseeing kitchen operations, managing a team of culinary professionals, and contributing to menu development that showcases the best of local and international cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and create innovative and high-quality menus.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Train and mentor kitchen team members, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Assist in inventory management, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs.
  • Participate in menu development, including creating new dishes and refining existing recipes.
  • Monitor and maintain quality and presentation standards for all culinary offerings.
  • Contribute to a positive guest experience by consistently delivering exceptional culinary creations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a culinary team.
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen procedures.
  • Creative flair and passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
