About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our team as an Area General Manager, Master Franchise for our APAC Region, based in Singapore. The Area General Manager, Master Franchise plays a critical role within the system as the overall business performance and master franchisees relationship owner across their assigned markets. Accountable for strategically driving master franchisees’ sales, operations, expansion, and contractual compliance through thought leadership and impactful influencing with master franchisees externally and effective coordination and alignment with cross-functional leaders internally.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Leadership: Work with President Asia Pacific to develop short and long term integrated strategic plans for the markets. Provides vision and guidance on implementation of strategies, initiatives, and projects to deliver system sales, comp sales, new store opening targets for markets in the territory. Work closely with master franchisees to develop and implement market growth strategies. Analyze market trends, challenges, and opportunities to support the expansion of franchise networks in assigned territories. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., marketing, operations, development and other cross functional leaders) to address franchisee-specific needs.
- Driving performance: Track and evaluate master franchise performance against key metrics (e.g., sales, customer satisfaction, store opening, operations standards, etc.) Provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement. Spearhead the resolution of conflicts or issues affecting franchisee business.
- Prioritization and Alignment: Partner with master franchisee leadership team to prioritize areas that make the biggest impact on the business and ensure alignment internally and externally. Lead proactive franchisee engagement process through quarterly business review to drive continuous progress and improvement and to align priorities and support needed. Make timely adjustments and course corrections to the strategies if not performing up to expectations.
- Coaching and Management: Provide coaching, guidance, and direction to Master Franchises to effectively build sales and franchisee profitability. Provide guidance on sustainable development planning, tools and techniques for MFs to optimize profitable development growth in their territory.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact between the company and master franchise partners. Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with master franchisees, understanding their needs and addressing concerns effectively. Facilitate regular communication through meetings, calls, and reports to keep franchisees updated on company strategies, policies, and support programs. Ensure seamless communication between Global/Regional functional teams and Master Franchisees. Deliver global/regional strategies and explain strategic approach to align with Master Franchisees on their own business plans. Regularly share guidance and best practices from other markets along with benchmarking to guide the Master Franchisees.
- Team Management and Leadership: Provides strategic leadership and direction to internal teams. Manages direct reports to properly execute goals towards Annual Operating Plans to achieve business targets. Ensure cross-functional team support are coordinated to build a strong foundation for the brand to increase brand awareness, sales, profits and sustainable development growth.
- Standards and compliance: Ensure master franchisees adhere to brand standards, operating guidelines, and compliant to MFA agreements for all key terms (development, operations, marketing, financial obligations, etc.) Provide training and guidance to master franchisees on best practices to strength Subway business model and executions at the local level. Conduct periodic evaluations to assess compliance and performance. Monitor and raise any potential issues with master franchisee with an action plan to remedy.
- New Market Opening: Leadership role in onboarding master franchisee and market opening by effective coordination with Subway cross functional team and master franchisee team. Review new market site decision and opening plan to ensure successful opening.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing or similar related field.
- Master’s is a plus
- Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in an QSR or similar industry
- Minimum of 6 years of supervisory experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
- Language proficiency is Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is highly desirable
- Comprehensive understanding of franchise operations, legal frameworks and market dynamics
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving results.
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and reporting tools
- Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful
- A team player with a collaborative mindset
- Willingness to travel frequently to meet franchise partners and oversee operations
