People Operations - Recruitment and Safety Support
People Operations Specialist – Recruitment and Safety Support is an integral part of Jealous Fruits’ People Operations team success. They will assist with the overall operations of the department, playing a key role in the local recruitment and selection process, participating in the onboarding process and training and development of the full employees’ life cycle.
Working closely with the Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor the People Operations Specialist – Recruitment and Safety will be responsible for organizing and ensuring that all Farms comply with company policies and Government First Aid and Safety regulations, support Farm Managers in the implementation of the health and safety best practices and policies, be instrumental in constantly improving Jealous Fruits health and safety program to ultimately decrease the work related injury and deliver cost savings for the company.
Key Responsibilities
The following key responsibilities are listed below within the scope of the position followed by specific activities associated with each responsibility. This position may require the individual to perform additional duties as required.
Recruitment
- Leads the full-cycle local recruitment process including creating job advertisements, building relationships key recruitment avenues and websites, participates at job fairs, collects resumes, short lists candidates, conducts reference checks, and handles rejection communication for unsuccessful candidates.
- Prepare and posts job advertisements both internally and externally.
- In coordination with the department managers, sets up interviews for short-listed candidates, participates in the interview with the managers, verifies reference checks, confirms start dates for selected candidates, handles rejection correspondence with the unsuccessful candidates.
- Participates in recruitment and networking events (job fairs, conferences) representing the company brand and culture to attract and select the best candidates.
- Sends out staff announcements introducing the new employees and their contact information and advising of staff departures.
- Conducts exit interviews for each departing employee to identify reasons why they are choosing to leave the company, areas of improvement and the overall experience with the company.
- Supports the needs of the People Operations team by helping others when necessary.
Health and Safety
- Organizes and ensures that all Farms are equipped with everything needed and they are always following First Aid rules and regulations.
- Coordinates the training of First Aid training in preparation for the season based on the expected number of employees at each farm.
- Maintain strong communication with the Fields Operations team, Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor and People Operations team regarding health and safety issues and areas of improvement.
- In full season, coordinates the needs of hiring seasonal nurses and ambulances at each location.
- Participates in the onboarding and safety training of new employees.
- Contributes to identify training needs, develop training programs and deliver training to Jealous Fruits employees.
Training and Development
- Assesses the organization training material to find gaps and training needs
- Creates training materials as necessary to address these needs.
- Assists the People Operations Manager and Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor with ensuring employees are maintaining appropriate mandatory training.
Administration
- Manages confidential employee records, ensuring all records are up to date and accurate.
- Open communication with Payroll department regarding employees’ start and departure dates, and all other relevant information.
- Support in the review of existing and development of new policies.
- Participate in the Health and Wellness and JHSC committees.
- Maintains effective communication with all members of the People Operations department.
